  • Semi-Smoked Sausage 10 oz
  • Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon
  • Salad Potatoes 6 pieces
  • Onion 2 heads
  • Turnips 5 pieces
  • Chicken Broth 15 fl oz
  • Cheshire Cheese 5 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Heat the oil in a large skillet and fry the bacon pieces until crispy. Use a slotted spoon to transfer to a plate.

Step 2

In the skillet, layer the sliced potatoes, then a layer of thinly sliced onions, a layer of sliced carrots, and a layer of bacon. Sprinkle with freshly ground black pepper. Repeat the layers so that the top layer is potatoes. Season with salt and pepper (don't add too much salt as the bacon is very salty).

Step 3

Pour in the broth, cover with a lid or foil, and simmer on low heat for 20 minutes until the potatoes and carrots are tender.

Step 4

Preheat the broiler in the oven.

Step 5

Remove the lid from the skillet, sprinkle with cheese, and place under the broiler until a golden crust forms.
