Whole Grain Toasts
Breakfasts • French
Description
Eat the toasts immediately; do not prepare them in advance. Do not wrap them in a napkin, as they will become soggy. Always use only good quality bread — the better the bread, the tastier the toasts. Two-day-old bread is best for toasts.
Ingredients
- Sourdough Bread 1 piece
- Butter to taste
- Jam to taste
- Ham to taste
- Cheese Spread to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Carefully slice the loaf into pieces about 1 cm thick using a sawing motion, trying to apply as little pressure as possible to avoid damaging the crumb. You can remove the crust, depending on your taste.
Step 2
Preheat the grill to maximum heat for at least 10 minutes before cooking the toasts.
Step 3
Place the bread on the grill rack about 5 cm away from the grill. Toast until golden brown to your liking on both sides.
Step 4
Do not leave the toasts unattended! Quickly transfer them to a toast rack — this will keep them crispy and prevent them from getting soggy. If you don't have one, lean them against something for a minute.
Step 5
Serve deliciously with butter and some jam, as well as ham and cheese if you want a heartier option.
