Description

Tuna Tartare with Watermelon

Ingredients

  • Watermelon 5 oz
  • Mint 3 stems
  • Grated Ginger Root 0 oz
  • Soy Sauce 1 tablespoon
  • Lime 1 piece
  • Tuna 15 oz
  • Scallions 5 pieces
  • Chinese Five Spice 1 tablespoon
  • Orange zest ½ piece

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Chill the glasses or cups in which you plan to serve the appetizer (but do not freeze them, otherwise the tartare will stick to the walls).

Step 2

Cut the tuna into cubes.

Step 3

Juice the lime and orange, peel the ginger and grate it. Collect the ginger juice and the grated ginger (discard any fibrous bits or use them to brew tea, just for yourself).

Step 4

Mix the juice, ginger, and soy sauce. Marinate the tuna in this mixture for 15 minutes.

Step 5

Meanwhile, remove the seeds from the watermelon and cut it into cubes the same size as the tuna. Transfer to a colander to drain excess juice.

Step 6

Finely chop the mint leaves (without stems) and the green onion.

Step 7

Drain the excess juice from the marinated tuna, combine it with the watermelon, add the seven spice mix, and the mint, and gently mix everything.

Step 8

Distribute into glasses (cups), garnish with green onion and whole mint leaves.

Step 9

Serve immediately.
