Homemade Sauerkraut
Ingredients
- White Cabbage 105 oz
- Carrot 35 oz
- Salt 6 tablespoons
- Water 15 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Finely shred the cabbage.
Step 2
Grate the carrot on a coarse grater.
Step 3
Layer the ingredients, salting each layer: cabbage — carrot — cabbage — carrot — and so on until finished.
Step 4
Then mix everything together.
Step 5
Combine 500 ml of boiled water with 3 tablespoons of salt.
Step 6
Pack the cabbage and carrot tightly into a 3-liter jar. Pour the prepared brine over the cabbage.
Step 7
After a day, pierce the cabbage to the bottom to release bitterness. After 2 days, the cabbage should be ready to eat. Store in a cool place.
