Description

The word 'tori' is familiar to Russians from yakitori, which are chicken skewers. Essentially, it refers to chicken. Karaage is a method of preparation: first, the chicken is marinated, and then it is deep-fried.

Ingredients

  • Sake 0 fl oz
  • "Petelinka Thigh Fillet" 5 oz
  • Mirin 0 fl oz
  • Soy Sauce 0 fl oz
  • Garlic 0 oz
  • Ginger 0 oz
  • Starch film 0 oz
  • Vegetable Oil 1½ l
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

For the marinade, grate the garlic and ginger on the finest grater until you achieve a puree. Mix them with sake, mirin, and soy sauce, then season with salt and pepper.

Step 2

Cut the chicken into 2–3 centimeter cubes. Place them in the marinade, mix well, and let sit for ten minutes.

Step 3

Heat oil in a saucepan or pot to 355°F. Dredge the chicken pieces and fry until golden brown.

Step 4

Place on paper towels. Serve on a plate lined with tempura paper.
