Sweet and Sour Honey Sauce (for Creocacavas)
Sauces and Marinades • Italian
Description
Sour cream should be thick, preferably from a local farm. You can use any honey, but either chestnut honey or (if you want to go the extra mile) cumin honey will make this sauce divine. Juices can be replaced with orange juice, adding lemon zest to taste (if you prefer a more 'simple' flavor in your food). Vinegar can be replaced with any wine vinegar. Wine can be replaced with brandy. BUT IF YOU WANT TO RECREATE THE ORIGINAL RECIPE OF ANCIENT ROMANS, IT'S BEST NOT TO SUBSTITUTE THE INGREDIENTS. Why? Read in the 'History' section of the recipe. A wonderful addition to various cereals. Perfect with chickpeas.
