Quick Tomato Sauce with Basil
Sauces and Marinades • European
Description
Recipe taken from a collection of recipes by Anna Johnson.
Ingredients
- Tomatoes 5 lbs
- Basil to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Thoroughly wash the tomatoes. Peel them, remove the stem attachment, and take out the seeds.
Step 2
In a large pot over low heat, simmer the tomatoes, stirring occasionally, until they turn into a homogeneous mass, about 50–60 minutes. After that, take an immersion blender and puree the tomatoes.
Step 3
The sauce should be thick enough. Therefore, if there is too much liquid in the sauce, it should be drained.
Step 4
Sterilize the jars that will hold the sauce and fill them with the passata, leaving 2–3 centimeters of space at the top. Place a basil leaf on top in the jar and seal it well.
Step 5
The sauce can be stored in a dark, cool place for up to 1 year.
