Strata with Sausages, Cheese, and Peppers

Ingredients

  • Milk ½ cup
  • Farm fresh eggs 6 pieces
  • Scallions 5 oz
  • Whipped Cream 5 fl oz
  • Oregano 2 tablespoons
  • Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese 0 oz
  • Salt ½ teaspoon
  • Spicy salami 15 oz
  • Sourdough Bread 15 oz
  • Orange Bell Peppers 1 piece
  • Fontina cheese 10 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 355°F. Grease a ceramic or glass baking dish with butter. In a large bowl, mix the eggs, milk, chopped green onions, cream, grated Pecorino Romano, oregano, and salt. Generously sprinkle with black pepper.

Step 2

In a large skillet, place the sausages on one side and the sliced bell pepper on the other. Sauté, breaking the sausages apart with a fork, and mix everything together, cooking for about 7 minutes.

Step 3

In the prepared dish, layer half of the sliced bread. Pour half of the egg mixture on top, sprinkle with half of the grated Fontina cheese, and half of the sausage mixture. Repeat the layers. Let it sit for 20 minutes to allow the bread to soak well. Bake for about 1 hour until golden brown. Allow to cool.
