Steamed ginger tofu

Ingredients

  • Ginger 0 oz
  • Herbed Tofu 20 oz
  • Rice Sweet Wine 2 spoons
  • Soy Sauce 2 spoons
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Scallions 0 oz
  • Mild Chili Spice 2 pieces
  • Spanish onions 1 head
  • White Pepper (whole) to taste
  • Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Cut the tofu into six equal pieces. Julienne the ginger into thin strips. Place the tofu in a deep, flat-bottomed bowl. Top each piece with a pinch of ginger. Mix the rice wine with soy sauce and sugar, then pour this mixture over the tofu.

Step 2

Pour boiling water into a deep baking dish and place a bowl with tofu in it. Seal the bowl with foil on top. Place the baking dish in the oven preheated to 300°F for fifteen minutes.

Step 3

Slice the red onion into thin half-rings and sauté in vegetable oil until crispy.

Step 4

Remove the tofu from the oven, place it on plates, sprinkle each piece with fried onions, chopped green onions, and chili pepper, and drizzle with sauce.
