Spicy Smelt

Ingredients

  • Smelt 15 oz
  • Potato 2 pieces
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste 1 tablespoon
  • Ginger-Garlic Paste ½ spoons
  • Onion 1 head
  • Mild Chili Spice 1 tablespoon
  • Turmeric 2 spoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Cumin (Cumin) ½ spoons
  • Vegetable Oil 5 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Pat the fish dry with paper towels. Mix salt and a teaspoon of turmeric, then coat the fish in this mixture.

Step 2

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet and quickly fry the fish until golden brown. Transfer to a plate, then add the chopped onion to the skillet and sauté until golden brown as well.

Step 3

Then add the potatoes, peeled and cut into wedges, and fry for five minutes. Add ginger and garlic paste, turmeric, chili, and cumin.

Step 4

Stir and sauté for a couple of minutes, then add the fish to the pan, pour in half a cup of water, and bring to a boil. Cook for ten minutes, then remove from heat and serve immediately.
