Spaghetti al Pomodoro
Ingredients
- Onion 1 head
- Garlic 4 cloves
- Olive Oil 0 fl oz
- Red Long Chili Peppers a pinch
- Canned Tomatoes (Pelati) 30 oz
- Salt to taste
- Basil 3 stems
- Spaghetti 10 oz
- Butter 2 tablespoons
- Parmesan Cheese 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Heat the olive oil in a pan, add chopped onion and cook, stirring, for 12 minutes. Add minced garlic and sauté for another 2–4 minutes. Sprinkle in the pepper and cook for another minute.
Step 2
Puree the tomatoes, pour into the pan, add salt, and cook for 20 minutes. Remove from heat, add basil to the sauce, and set aside.
Step 3
Cook the spaghetti, drain the water, reserving 0.5 cup.
Step 4
Remove the basil, return the pan to heat, pour in the reserved spaghetti water and bring to a boil. Add the pasta, cook, stirring well, for 2 minutes.
Step 5
Sprinkle with cheese and pieces of butter, let the butter melt, and serve.
