Shukrut with Apples and Grapes
Ingredients
- Onion 1 head
- Butter 2 tablespoons
- Shukrut 5 lbs
- Pickled Apples 2 pieces
- Dry White Wine 10 fl oz
- Brown Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Red Grape Juice to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Finely chop the onion and sauté in butter over medium heat, stirring occasionally, for about 6 minutes until golden brown. Add the lightly squeezed shukrut, diced apples, and wine, and bring to a boil.
Step 2
Cover with a lid, reduce the heat, and simmer, stirring, for about 2 hours until the cabbage is very soft.
Step 3
Add sugar and 0.5 teaspoons each of salt and black pepper. Before serving, add a few grapes to each portion.
