Ingredients

  • Semolina 1 cup
  • Water 1½ cups
  • Salt 1 teaspoon
  • Carrot 1 piece
  • Onion 1 piece
  • Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
  • Turmeric 1 teaspoon

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Finely chop the carrot and onion.

Step 2

Heat the oil in a skillet. Add the turmeric, stir for half a minute, then add the onion and sauté. When the onion is golden, add the carrot and stir-fry until the carrot turns yellow. Remove from heat.

Step 3

In a deep bowl, pour in the water. While stirring, gradually add the semolina. Mix thoroughly to avoid lumps. Semolina behaves differently in water than flour.

Step 4

Add the sautéed mixture from the skillet to the bowl and mix everything together.

Step 5

Heat a greased skillet. Pour the 'dough' onto the hot surface using a spoon. Fry on both sides until golden brown.

Step 6

Place the pancakes on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
