Sandwiches with Guacamole, Capers, and Smoked Meat
Appetizers • Mexican
Description
You can use fresh cucumbers instead of tomatoes in this sandwich, and roast beef instead of ham; that is the classic version.
Ingredients
- Sourdough Bread 8 pieces
- Baku Tomatoes 3 pieces
- Smoked Ham on the Bone 10 oz
- Capers 0 oz
- Banana Leaves 4 pieces
- Avocado 15 oz
- Lime Juice 0 fl oz
- Sweet Pepper 0 oz
- Shallot 0 oz
- TABASCO® 0 fl oz
- Salt to taste
- Worcestershire Sauce 0 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
For the guacamole, peel the avocado, remove the pit, and cut it into large pieces. Make a cross incision on the top of one tomato, pour boiling water over it, then remove the skin and dice it into small cubes. Roast the bell pepper in the oven at 430°F for twenty minutes, peel off the skin and seeds, and also dice it. In a bowl, combine the avocado, mash the flesh with a fork, then add the tomatoes, pepper, finely chopped shallot, Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, and lime juice. Mix well while mashing.
Step 2
Slice two tomatoes into rings that are not too thin, but also not too thick. Do the same with the ham, if it was not already pre-sliced.
Step 3
Spread guacamole on all the pieces of bread. On four of them, place a slice of meat, along with two to three slices of tomato, and sprinkle with salt. Crush the capers with a knife and distribute them evenly in the spaces between the tomatoes. Top each with a leaf of lettuce and cover everything with the remaining pieces of bread spread with guacamole.
