Salted Salmon
Appetizers • European
Description
A simple and quick recipe: the salting process takes just a few minutes, and the fish will be ready by the next day. The recipe uses herbes de Provence, but if you prefer to enjoy the pure and unadulterated flavor of salmon, feel free to omit the herbs.
Ingredients
- Smoked haddock fillet 0 lbs
- Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Salt 2 spoons
- Herbes de Provence ½ spoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Combine the sugar, salt, and herbs in a bowl.
Step 2
Rinse the fillet under running water and pat it dry with a towel.
Step 3
Cut the fillet into two pieces.
Step 4
Sprinkle each fillet with the dry mixture, using 1 tablespoon per piece. Gently rub the salt and sugar into the fish with your hands.
Step 5
Pour 0.5 tablespoons of the dry mixture into the bottom of a pot or another suitable container. Place the fish on top with the fillet side facing up.
Step 6
Cover the fish with a second piece, flesh side to flesh side.
Step 7
Sprinkle the fish with the remaining dry mixture on top.
Step 8
Cover with a lid or plastic wrap and refrigerate for 12 hours.
Step 9
Then rinse the remaining salt and sugar off the fish, slice it thinly, and serve.
