Roasted Tomato Sauce
Ingredients
- Tomatoes 5 pieces
- Garlic 4 cloves
- Onion 1 head
- Fresh basil leaves 3 teaspoons
- Paprika 1 tablespoon
- Apple Wine 5 fl oz
- Olive Oil to taste
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare medium tomatoes and wash them well.
Step 2
Make cross-shaped cuts with a knife.
Step 3
Line a baking sheet with foil, place the tomatoes on it, and drizzle with olive oil.
Step 4
Generously sprinkle with salt and dried basil. Preheat the oven to 390°F and roast the tomatoes for 40 minutes.
Step 5
Remove the roasted tomatoes from the oven and let them cool slightly.
Step 6
Use a knife to separate the skin from the flesh.
Step 7
Place the peeled tomatoes in a container and puree with an immersion blender.
Step 8
Chop the onion and garlic.
Step 9
Combine everything in a skillet and sauté in olive oil until golden.
Step 10
Pour in the red wine and reduce by half.
Step 11
Add the tomato puree to the skillet and mix well until smooth.
Step 12
Add paprika to the sauce. If necessary, season with salt and pepper to taste. Simmer on low heat for 5–10 minutes until the desired consistency is reached.
Step 13
Cool and serve. The sauce can be stored in the refrigerator for up to a week.
