Ingredients

  • Red Currant 30 oz
  • Apple 15 oz
  • Onion 15 oz
  • Garlic 1 clove
  • Nutmeg ¼ piece
  • Ground Cinnamon ¼ teaspoon
  • Ground clove ¼ teaspoon
  • Brown Sugar 3 tablespoons
  • Malt Vinegar 3 tablespoons
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Salt to taste
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Peel the apples and remove the core, then cut them into small pieces.

Step 2

Remove the outer leaves from the cabbage, discard the core, and shred it. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 3

In a pot, layer the shredded cabbage, followed by a layer of chopped onion and apples, sprinkled with minced garlic, grated nutmeg, cinnamon, cloves, and sugar. Continue layering until all ingredients are used.

Step 4

Pour in the wine vinegar and place pieces of butter on top. Cover with a lid and stew in the oven at 300°F for 2 to 2.5 hours, stirring occasionally.

Step 5

Serve the dish warm.
