Step 1
Heat the milk to 105°F, pour it into a jar, and close it.
Step 2
Place the jar on a radiator or simply leave it in a warm place. On the radiator, the milk will sour into buttermilk in less than 12 hours.
Step 3
Pour the contents of the jar onto a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. If using a strainer, gently stir with a spoon to help the whey drain faster. If using cheesecloth, carefully squeeze to the desired consistency.
Step 4
If desired, you can add salt at the end.
