Description
A quick and simple recipe where cucumbers that haven't yet absorbed salt and flavor are enhanced by the leaves of horseradish, currants, and cherries.
Ingredients
- Cucumbers 10 lbs
- Water 5 qt
- Salt 5 teaspoons
- Horseradish Leaves 10 pieces
- Dill 10 pieces
- Black Currant Leaves 20 pieces
- Cherry 20 pieces
- Garlic 2 heads
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Rinse the cucumbers and trim the ends. Peel the garlic.
Step 2
Bring the water to a boil and add salt at a ratio of one heaping tablespoon per liter of water.
Step 3
Place a layer of horseradish leaves, cherry leaves, currant leaves, dill stems, and garlic in a jar, then add cucumbers, followed by another layer of greens and garlic, then more cucumbers, and finish by topping with greens.
Step 4
Pour the contents of the jar with brine, seal it, and let it sit for a day.
