Pumpkin Gratin with Thyme
Ingredients
- Garlic 1 clove
- Butter 1 tablespoon
- Breadcrumbs ½ cup
- Coarse Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Chopped Sage Leaves 2 teaspoons
- Pumpkin 80 oz
- Chives 3 tablespoons
- Chopped Sage Leaves 2 tablespoons
- Cream (40%) 1½ cups
- Ground Nutmeg 0.1 teaspoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Peel the pumpkin and remove the seeds. Cut it into thin strips.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Rub the gratin dish with the garlic clove and grease it with butter.
Step 3
Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add the breadcrumbs, season with salt and pepper, and sauté for 2–3 minutes. Transfer to a bowl and mix with parsley.
Step 4
In a large bowl, combine the pumpkin flesh, thyme, and chopped chives. Season with salt and pepper and transfer to the prepared dish.
Step 5
In a small saucepan, combine the cream and nutmeg. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer for 5 minutes. Pour the cream over the pumpkin.
Step 6
Place the gratin in the oven for 20 minutes. Then remove and gently stir. Return to the oven for another 10 minutes until the cream thickens. Remove from the oven.
Step 7
Preheat the grill in the oven.
Step 8
Sprinkle the gratin with breadcrumbs and place under the grill for 2 minutes until golden brown. Serve immediately.
