Pumpkin appetizer with pears and bacon
Ingredients
- Butternut Squash 20 oz
- Pears 2 pieces
- Olive Oil 2 teaspoons
- Coarse Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Bacon 2 pieces
- Water 2 tablespoons
- Brown Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Mild Chili Spice 1 teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 430°F.
Step 2
Slice the pears thinly lengthwise, removing the core, and transfer them to a bowl.
Step 3
Cut the pumpkin lengthwise into 4 parts, remove the seeds, then slice it thinly crosswise. Add it to the pears. Drizzle with olive oil, season with salt and pepper. Toss and spread evenly on a baking sheet.

Bake until tender, stirring occasionally, for 20–25 minutes.

Meanwhile, fry the bacon in a well-heated skillet until crispy and transfer to a paper towel.
Step 6
In a small saucepan, combine water, sugar, and chili pepper until the sugar dissolves.
Step 7
Transfer the pumpkin and pears to a bowl, drizzle with the syrup, and mix.
Step 8
Serve topped with crumbled bacon.
