Description
Latkes are a traditional treat for the Jewish holiday Hanukkah, but these very tasty crispy potato pancakes are great as a snack or for dinner.
Ingredients
- Salad Potatoes 25 oz
- Onion 2 heads
- Wheat Flour 4 tablespoons
- Baking Powder 1 teaspoon
- Farm fresh eggs 2 pieces
- Salt 1 teaspoon
- Sugar ½ teaspoon
- Ground Black Pepper ½ teaspoon
- Vegetable Oil 5 fl oz
- Red Caviar 1 jar
- Natural Yogurt ½ cup
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Chop the onion. Lightly beat the eggs. Mix the eggs and onion with flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and pepper.
Step 2
Grate the potatoes on a coarse grater, place in a colander, and squeeze out excess moisture. Transfer the potato shreds to a bowl and mix with the batter.
Step 3
Pour a few millimeters of vegetable oil into a heavy skillet and heat.
Step 4
Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the skillet. Fry over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until golden brown, flip, and fry on the other side.
Step 5
Remove the latkes from the skillet with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels or a napkin. Place in a warm oven to keep warm.
Step 6
Top each pancake with a spoonful of yogurt or sour cream, and garnish with red caviar. Serve hot.
