Pork Lard in Onion Peel

Ingredients

  • Pork fat 1½ kg
  • Garlic 2 heads
  • Onion 0 oz
  • Salt to taste
  • Green peppercorns 4 pieces
  • Bay leaf to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

In a pot, prepare a strong salt solution. Add the onion peel and spices.

Step 2

Cut the lard into slices (about the size of a fist, or slightly smaller). Place the lard in the pot so that the salt solution completely covers it.

Step 3

Bring to a boil and cook for 7–10 minutes.

Step 4

Remove from heat and let it sit at room temperature for about a day.

Step 5

Then remove the lard, clean it from the peel, and rub it with crushed garlic. Optionally, you can lightly sprinkle with ground red pepper.

Step 6

Chill in the refrigerator, then in the freezer.
