Pasta with Bacon and Peas
Ingredients
- Salt to taste
- Bacon 12 pieces
- Gruyère cheese 10 oz
- Canned Mushroom Soup 10 oz
- Sugar 1 teaspoon
- Tomatoes 0 lbs
- Onion 1 piece
- Safflower Oil 2 tablespoons
- Pasta (corkscrew) 10 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Pour the pasta into a large pot of salted water, bring to a boil, and cook uncovered. When the water comes to a boil again, reduce the heat so that the water continues to boil and cook for another 10-12 minutes. Drain through a large colander, rinse under cold water, and set aside.
Step 2
While the pasta is cooking, finely chop the onion and tomatoes, drain the juice from the peas, and grate the cheese.
Step 3
Heat the oil in a pan – add the onion and sauté over low heat for 8 minutes until golden. Add the tomatoes and cook, mashing them with a spatula, for another 10 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool slightly, then transfer to a blender and blend into a puree. Add sugar and salt to taste. Preheat the oven to 355°F.
Step 4
Mix the pasta, tomato sauce, peas, and 65 grams of cheese in a baking dish. Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top and bake for a few minutes until the cheese melts.
Step 5
Meanwhile, roll the bacon slices into rolls and secure them with toothpicks. Fry in a non-stick pan, turning, for 5-10 minutes until the bacon is cooked and golden brown. Remove the toothpicks, place the bacon on top of the pasta, and serve immediately.
