Pan-Fried Mushrooms
Appetizers • European
Description
A wonderful recipe, perfect in its simplicity. Cooking mushrooms is quite easy, but it's important to remember their character — they have a rather mild and bland taste. Because of this, mushrooms benefit from a powerful addition of onions, butter (the presence of it does not exclude vegetable oil), white wine, oregano, and parsley with garlic and black pepper. The mentioned butter will gather all these aromas and flavors, enveloping the mushrooms in a delicate creamy veil. It's best to serve the mushrooms with classic mashed potatoes, ideally with a generous amount of butter.
Ingredients
- Champignons 20 oz
- Onion 1 head
- Garlic 2 cloves
- Parsley 0 oz
- Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
- Butter 0 oz
- Dry White Wine 0 fl oz
- Oregano 1 tablespoon
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Dice the onion into small cubes.
Step 2
Chop the garlic and parsley.
Step 3
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil and add butter.
Step 4
Sauté the onion until golden brown.
Step 5
Add the mushrooms to the skillet. If the mushrooms are small, there's no need to cut them; large ones should be halved or quartered. The mushrooms should fit in a single layer in the skillet. Sauté them for about 5 minutes until golden brown.
Step 6
Pour in the white wine and continue to sauté for another 2 minutes.
Step 7
Add oregano, garlic, and parsley, and mix well.
Step 8
Finally, season with salt and pepper to taste. When serving, garnish with fresh parsley.
