Description

Onion Rings with Sweet and Sour Sauce

Ingredients

  • Onion 3 pieces
  • Water 10 fl oz
  • Egg white 2 pieces
  • Activated Baking Soda ½ teaspoon
  • Wheat Flour 10 oz
  • Salt to taste
  • Vegetable Oil 0 qt
  • Spices to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Beat the water or milk with the eggs using a mixer, then add salt and spices, gradually incorporating the flour with the baking soda. The batter should be about the thickness of pancake batter; let it rest for 20-30 minutes.

Step 2

Meanwhile, peel the onions and slice each into rings a few millimeters thick (the thinner you slice, the less noticeable they will be in the batter). Then separate the rings from each other.

Step 3

Heat the oil in a deep skillet. Dip each onion ring into the batter and fry in the oil on both sides until golden brown. Do not cover with a lid, otherwise, they will not be crispy.

Step 4

Serve with sauce or adjika. You can make a sweet and sour sauce: mash a tomato into a puree, add salt, sugar, and vinegar, bring the mixture to a boil in a saucepan, and let it thicken slightly.
