Description
Onion Pancakes
Ingredients
- Wheat Flour 2 cups
- Boiling water 1 cup
- Sesame Oil ¼ cup
- Leek 5 oz
- Soy Sauce 2 tablespoons
- Malt Vinegar 2 tablespoons
- Grated Ginger Root ½ teaspoon
- Sugar 2 teaspoons
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a food processor bowl, add the flour. Turn on the processor and gradually pour in ¾ cup of hot water. If the dough is too thick, gradually add the remaining hot water. Remove the dough and form it into a ball. Place it in a bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rest for 30 minutes at room temperature (or overnight in the refrigerator).
Step 2
Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll each into a small ball. Roll each ball into a pancake about 20 cm in diameter. Brush one side of the pancake with sesame oil. Roll the pancake into a log and then form a 'snail'. Press down with your hand and roll it out again into a pancake about 20 cm in diameter.
Step 3
Again, brush the pancake with sesame oil. Place ½ cup of leeks on top and roll it into a log again, then form a 'snail', press down with your hand, and roll it out into a pancake about 17 cm in diameter. Repeat the process with the remaining 3 pancakes.
Step 4
Mix all the ingredients for the sauce. The sauce is ready.
Step 5
Heat a skillet and oil over medium heat and place the pancake in the oil. Fry for about 2 minutes until the pancake is golden on one side. Carefully flip the pancake and fry the other side. Place the finished pancake on a paper towel. Sprinkle with salt, cut into 6 pieces. Serve hot with the sauce. Dip pieces of the pancake in the sauce. Enjoy your meal!
