Description

Odessa-style Herring Salad

Ingredients

  • Lightly Salted Red Fish 5 oz
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Vegetable Oil 0 fl oz
  • Onion 0 oz
  • Green Apples 0 oz
  • 10% cream 0 fl oz
  • White bread 0 oz
  • Chicken Egg 1 piece
  • Semi-soft cream cheese 0 oz
  • Apple Cider Vinegar 0 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

For this dish, you need barrel herring. Clean it, separating it from the bones and skin. If the herring is very salty, you can soak it in milk for 2 hours. Before cutting, pat the herring dry with a paper towel. Cut it into small cubes.

Step 2

Soak the white bread crust in cream for 20 minutes.

Step 3

Boil the egg until hard.

Step 4

Dice the onion, apple, and egg into small cubes.

Step 5

In a deep bowl, combine the onion, apple, egg, herring, and bread. Lightly squeeze the bread to remove excess cream.

Step 6

Mix well and add the softened butter, vegetable oil, cheese, and vinegar.

Step 7

Stir everything well, but keep some texture.

Step 8

Add salt and pepper to taste.

Step 9

Serve the finished dish with toast, herbs, and butter.

Step 10

Store in the refrigerator for no more than two days.
