Description

Menemen is the Turkish equivalent of shakshuka. Eggs are cracked into a savory mixture of stewed tomatoes and sweet peppers. Recipe from a popular American restaurant.

  • Chicken Egg 2 pieces
  • Tomatoes 2 pieces
  • Orange Bell Peppers 1 piece
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Salt 0 oz
  • Aleppo pepper 0 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Dice the peeled tomatoes and bell peppers.

Step 2

Heat the skillet and melt the butter.

Step 3

Add the bell pepper and sauté for 6–7 minutes. Then, add the tomatoes. Cover with a lid and simmer for another 5–8 minutes. Season with salt, sprinkle with pepper, and add the seasoning.

Step 4

Crack the eggs into a bowl and lightly beat them with a fork.

Step 5

Add the egg mixture to the vegetables. Stirring constantly, sauté for 2–3 minutes.

Step 6

Turn off the heat and cover the skillet with a lid. Let it sit for an additional 2–3 minutes.

Step 7

Serve with fresh herbs.
