Marinara spaghetti with basil
Ingredients
- Olive Oil 1 cup
- Beef Shank 20 oz
- Pork Neck 1 piece
- Garlic 10 cloves
- Onion 1 head
- Passata Tomato Sauce 1 cup
- Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Celery salt 2 teaspoons
- Basil 4 stems
- Baking Tomatoes 3 cans
- Bay leaf 2 pieces
- Salt to taste
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Spaghetti 20 oz
- Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
In a saucepan over high heat, heat the olive oil. Sear the bones until golden brown and place them on a plate.
Step 2
In the skillet, add finely chopped onion and garlic and sauté until golden brown. Add sugar, celery seeds, basil, crushed tomatoes, and bay leaves. Season with salt and pepper.
Step 3
Reduce the heat to medium, add the bones, and cook until 1/3 of the liquid evaporates. This will take about 1 hour. Remove the bones, basil stems, and bay leaves. Shred the meat from the bones and add it to the sauce.
Step 4
Following the package instructions, boil the pasta until al dente. Serve the cooked spaghetti on plates and top with sauce.
Step 5
Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve. Enjoy your meal!
