Description

Macaroni and Cheese, often affectionately known as Mac and Cheese, is a classic American comfort food made with tender macaroni pasta and a creamy cheese sauce. This dish is beloved for its rich flavor and satisfying texture, making it a favorite in homes and diners across the country.

Ingredients

  • Pasta (corkscrew) 10 oz
  • Milk ½ l
  • Butter 4 spoons
  • Wheat Flour ¼ glasses
  • Ground Black Pepper ¼ spoons
  • Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese 3 glasses
  • Ground Nutmeg ¼ spoons
  • Breadcrumbs ¾ glasses
  • Salt ½ spoons
  • Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

In a pot of boiling salted water, add a little vegetable oil and the pasta. Cook according to the package instructions (typically 6–8 minutes). Drain the water.

Step 2

While the pasta is boiling, heat the milk in a small saucepan, but do not let it come to a boil.

Step 3

In another pot, melt 3 tablespoons of butter, then add flour. Cook over low heat for 2 minutes, whisking constantly. Add the hot milk and cook for another 2 minutes.

Step 4

Remove from heat, add cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix well. Add the cooked pasta and stir again thoroughly. Transfer to a baking dish.

Step 5

Melt the remaining 1 tablespoon of butter and mix it with the bread crumbs. Pour the mixture over the pasta.

Step 6

Bake in a preheated oven at 375°F for 30–35 minutes, until the dish is golden brown.
