Description

It's also good to add 3 cm of grated ginger root — first the ginger, then salt/sugar, and then dill. It turns out very tasty and tender. Instead of dill, I added oranges, sliced into rounds/ground black currant (it creates a beautiful purple edge when sliced). Now I'm planning to make gravlax — with beets and horseradish. I'll do it and report back.

Ingredients

  • Coarse Salt 2 tablespoons
  • Sugar 3 tablespoons
  • Ground Black Pepper to taste
  • Vodka 5 fl oz
  • Salmon 0 lbs

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Place the fresh salmon fillet with skin (do not wash!) in a curing container (I use a ceramic baking dish), skin side down.

Step 2

Immediately pour vodka/brandy/diluted alcohol over it (from experience — alcohol or vodka works best).

Step 3

Let it sit for about 15 minutes.

Step 4

Mix salt, sugar, and pepper.

Step 5

Rub the fish on all sides.

Step 6

Completely cover with dill.

Step 7

Let it sit on the kitchen counter for a couple of hours.

Step 8

Send it to the refrigerator overnight. In the morning, the fish is ready.
