Description
Latte Macchiato in a French Press
Ingredients
- Ground Coffee 3 teaspoons
- Milk 5 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the French press with hot water. Add the ground coffee. I add about 4 teaspoons, which is about 36 grams.
Step 2
Pour 150 ml of water heated to 195°F over the coffee. Note that if you pour boiling water, the coffee will lose its best flavor and aroma qualities. Stir gently.
Step 3
Then cover the French press with the lid and plunger, ensuring the plunger slightly touches the coffee.
Step 4
Brew the coffee for about 4–5 minutes. No longer, to prevent the coffee from losing its properties.
Step 5
When there is about 1 minute left in the brewing time, heat 150 ml of pasteurized milk in the microwave for 2 minutes.
Step 6
Once the coffee has brewed, slowly press the plunger down, then pour the coffee into a preheated glass from which you will later pour the coffee in a thin stream into the milk. Clean the French press.
Step 7
Pour the heated milk into the French press, then move the plunger up and down in a steady motion and see that the milk froths into foam. Do this for about 20–30 seconds.
Step 8
Pour the frothed milk into a latte glass and let it sit for about 20 seconds to create a separation between the foam and the milk.
Step 9
Slowly pour the coffee into the center of the glass with milk.
Step 10
You can add grated chocolate on top of the foam.
