Homemade Barbecue Sauce

Ingredients

  • Ketchup 2 cups
  • Passata Tomato Sauce 3 tablespoons
  • Apple juice with pulp 0.4 cups
  • Soy Sauce 5 fl oz
  • Worcestershire Sauce 5 fl oz
  • Dijon Mustard 2 tablespoons
  • Apple Cider Vinegar 5 fl oz
  • Brown Sugar 2 tablespoons
  • Ground Cumin 1 teaspoon
  • Mild Chili Spice ½ teaspoon
  • Vegetable Oil 2 tablespoons
  • Onion ½ head
  • Garlic 2 cloves
  • Black Pomegranate Molasses 3 tablespoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Peach Juice 0 fl oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Finely chop the onion and mince the garlic.

Step 2

In a saucepan with high sides, sauté the onion and garlic in vegetable oil over medium heat until cooked, stirring constantly. Then pour in the vinegar and soy sauce and blend with an immersion blender.

Step 3

Add the remaining ingredients and simmer the sauce to the desired consistency for 25 minutes to 1 hour on low heat, stirring constantly to prevent burning. The juice can be replaced with any juice with pulp (peach, pear, apricot) or water. Add the ground chili pepper cautiously, gradually increasing to the desired spiciness.

Step 4

Remove the sauce from heat and let it cool completely.

Step 5

Transfer the cooled sauce to a sterilized jar and store in the refrigerator for several months. Serve the sauce chilled with grilled meat or brush it onto the meat while cooking over fire.
