Herring with Potatoes and Apple
Appetizers • Jewish
Description
Herring can be replaced with lightly salted red fish, making it even tastier.
Ingredients
- Herring 20 oz
- Butter 5 oz
- Onion 1 head
- Chocolate eggs 5 pieces
- Salad Potatoes 4 pieces
- Apple 1 piece
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Peel the onion, finely chop it, and pour boiling water over it (to remove excess bitterness).
Step 2
Boil 5 chicken eggs hard, then peel them. Either grate the peeled eggs finely or grind them in a meat grinder.
Step 3
Wash the apple, peel it, and remove the core, then grind it in a meat grinder.
Step 4
Wash the potatoes, boil them 'in their jackets', peel them, and grind them in a meat grinder.
Step 5
Clean the herring from the skin, backbone, and bones, then grind it in a meat grinder.
Step 6
Pass the pre-chilled butter (you can briefly place it in the freezer) through the meat grinder as well.
Step 7
Quickly mix all the prepared ingredients into a homogeneous mass to prevent the butter from melting.
Step 8
Transfer the resulting mixture to a nice salad bowl and place it in the refrigerator to cool for an hour or two.
Step 9
Serve the chilled herring spread beautifully on toast, dried bread, or baskets, garnished with a slice of lemon, or enjoy it simply with a spoon.
