Description

You can use any lightly salted fish. Feel free to improvise with the filling, for example, add fresh cucumber, garlic, or use sprats instead of herring. Everyone has their preferences. It can be prepared a day before guests arrive and is easy to transport.

Ingredients

  • Lightly Salted Red Fish 1 piece
  • Sliced Processed Cheese 1 piece
  • Beetroot 1 piece
  • Turnips 2 pieces
  • Mayonnaise to taste
  • Pickled Cauliflower 2 pieces
  • Dill to taste

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Prepare the herring and cut it into thin slices.

Step 2

Grate the (cooked) carrots and (cooked) beetroot separately. Mix with mayonnaise. You can substitute with a mixture of yogurt and mustard for those who don't like mayonnaise.

Step 3

Slice the cucumbers (you can also grate them and then squeeze out the juice), chop the dill. Mix together.

Step 4

Cut the bread lengthwise without cutting all the way through to create two halves. Remove the insides from each half. Layer the halves starting with carrots, then cucumbers, beetroot, and herring. Join the bread halves and wrap in plastic wrap. Place in the refrigerator for 3 hours.

Step 5

Then remove, cut into traditional-sized pieces for bread, and serve as an appetizer.
