Guacamole
Appetizers • Mexican
Description
Guacamole, whether served as a dip or a sauce, is traditionally known in Mexican cuisine but has become very popular around the world. The key is to find a good ripe avocado and definitely mash the flesh with lemon or lime juice—this simple act helps the dish maintain its green color and prevents it from turning into something unappetizing. The consistency can vary: if you mash it with a fork, you'll get a dip with chunks of ingredients; if you blend everything together, you'll create a sauce that pairs perfectly with many main dishes.
Ingredients
- Mild Chili Spice 1 piece
- Avocado 3 pieces
- Tomatoes 2 pieces
- Onion 1 head
- Cilantro 1 bunch
- Lime 1 piece
- Salt to taste
- Garlic 1 clove
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Peel the tomatoes and chop them finely. Remove the seeds from the chili and chop it together with the onion, garlic, and cilantro. In a large mortar, use a pestle to grind the chili, cilantro, tomatoes, lime zest, and onion into a smooth paste. Lightly salt and mix again.
Step 2
Add one or two tablespoons of water and lime juice to make the mixture more liquid.
Step 3
Peel the avocado, remove the pits, and cut the flesh into small cubes. Add it to the chili and tomato paste and mash everything together thoroughly. Serve with tortilla chips.
