Step 1
Shell the green peas from the pods and boil them in salted boiling water. Cook over high heat for 10-15 minutes. Drain the cooked peas in a colander, let the water drain, and then transfer to a pot, adding the butter (in pieces) and sugar, and mix while shaking. After that, mound the peas in a warmed salad bowl or on a deep plate and serve.

If using canned peas, drain them from the can into a pot, heat them up, then drain in a colander and dress with butter.

For frozen peas, place them in boiling water and cook for 5-7 minutes, then drain in a colander; dress with butter before serving.
Step 4
Green peas can also be prepared with eggs and croutons. In this case, boil the eggs soft, peel them, and place them on top of the dressed peas. The croutons should be made from white bread, cut into triangles. Soak these pieces of bread in milk with an egg and sugar, then fry in butter.
