Gratin with Potatoes and Turnips
Ingredients
- Butter 2 tablespoons
- 33% Cream 1½ cups
- Thyme 3 sprigs
- Salad Potatoes 20 oz
- Coarse Salt to taste
- Turnips 20 oz
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a rectangular baking dish with butter.
Step 2
In a saucepan, bring the cream and thyme to a boil, remove from heat and let it steep for 30 minutes. Then strain.
Step 3
Peel the turnip and potatoes and slice them thinly. Layer them alternately in the dish, seasoning with salt and pepper. Dot with pieces of butter on top. Pour the cream over the vegetables so that they are completely covered (add more if necessary). Cover with foil.
Step 4
Bake until tender for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and allow to brown for another 15 minutes.
