Golden Baked Onions
Ingredients
- Butter 1½ tablespoons
- Spanish onions 20 pieces
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable Oil 1½ tablespoons
- Campbell's Beef Broth ½ cup
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Parsley 4 stems
- Bay leaf ½ piece
- Ground Caraway ¼ teaspoon
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Heat the butter and vegetable oil in a skillet and add the peeled onions. Sauté for about 10 minutes until the onions are browned on all sides, carefully turning them to avoid damaging the skin.
Step 2
Preheat the oven to 355°F (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Wrap the parsley, bay leaf, and caraway seeds in cheesecloth and tie it securely.
Step 3
Carefully transfer the onions to a baking dish, pour in the broth, season with salt and pepper, and place the herb pouch inside. Bake in the oven for 40-50 minutes, turning once or twice during cooking, until the onions are very tender and browned. Remove the pouch and serve.
