Gnocchi, my friends. Italian dumplings that are still featured on the menus of many American restaurants as 'gnocchi.'
Ingredients
- Potato 15 oz
- Wheat Flour 10 oz
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
- Grated Pecorino Pepato Cheese to taste
- Salt to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare the necessary ingredients.
Step 2
Boil the peeled potatoes in salted water for about 15 minutes. The potatoes should become tender but still hold their shape.
Step 3
Mash the potatoes using a fork or a potato masher.
Step 4
Mix the puree with the egg and flour, and knead the dough.
Step 5
Shape the dough into thin strands and place them on a floured surface.
Step 6
Cut the dough into pieces about one centimeter long.
Step 7
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and add the gnocchi.
Step 8
Cook for 3-5 minutes or until the gnocchi float to the surface.
Step 9
Drain the water. Sprinkle with grated Parmesan.
Step 10
Serve garnished with a sprig of basil.
