Fondue with Kirsch
Appetizers • Switzerland
Description
Fondue can be served with cubed bread, pieces of apples and pears, fried potato chunks, sliced red bell pepper, and broccoli.
Ingredients
- Garlic 1 clove
- Dry White Wine 1½ cups
- Corn Starch 1 tablespoon
- Kirsch 2 teaspoons
- Gruyère cheese 10 oz
- Emmental cheese 10 oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut the garlic clove in half and rub the inside of the fondue pot with it. Add the wine and bring to a boil over medium heat.
Step 2
In a bowl, mix the cornstarch and kirsch.
Step 3
Slowly add the cheese to the wine in portions, stirring in a zigzag pattern, not in circles or spirals, and add the next portion when the previous one has melted. Do not let it boil.
Step 4
Stir in the cornstarch and add it to the fondue. Bring to a gentle simmer and slight thickening, about 5-8 minutes. Transfer to a stand with a burner and serve.
