English Bread Pudding
Breakfasts • European
Description
If you are overly concerned about your figure, you can skip buttering the slices, but considering the ingredients like white bread, raisins, and cream, it's better to go all out, because it is the butter that gives the hot dish the appearance and consistency of pudding.
Ingredients
- French Baguette 1 piece
- Light Raisins, Seedless 5 oz
- Butter 5 oz
- Vanilla salt to taste
- Ground Cinnamon to taste
- 10% cream 15 fl oz
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Cut the baguette or bread into slices; you can remove the crusts if desired. I leave them on since they will soften anyway.
Step 2
Butter each piece on all sides, layer them in a dish on top of each other, either in layers or like shingles. I always end up with 2 layers regardless of the size of the dish. As you can understand, greasing the dish with butter is not necessary.
Step 3
Sprinkle raisins over each layer, pour cream over everything, and sprinkle with vanilla sugar and cinnamon. Ideally, let it soak overnight to bake in the morning for breakfast, but I honestly admit I never do that, and it always turns out incredibly delicious.
Step 4
Bake in a preheated oven at 390°F for 20 minutes.
