Dumplings for Borscht

Ingredients

  • Honey 1 tablespoon
  • Vegetable Oil 3 tablespoons
  • Dry yeast 3 teaspoons
  • Salt to taste
  • Wheat Flour 1½ cups
  • Water 1 cup

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Mix all the ingredients and gradually add the flour. You may need more flour.

Step 2

Leave the dough to rise in a warm place.

Step 3

Preheat the oven to 355°F.

Step 4

Once the dough has doubled in size, tear it into pieces and form balls.

Step 5

Place the balls on a baking sheet or in a springform pan, previously greased with oil. Let them rise a bit more.

Step 6

Optionally, you can brush the dumplings with an egg wash before baking to make them golden.

Step 7

Bake until golden brown.

Step 8

You can also brush them with garlic — finely chop 2–3 cloves of garlic and mix with 2–3 tablespoons of sunflower oil; optionally, you can add a little salt and/or finely chopped herbs.
