Appetizers • Chinese
Description
Cucumber spirals are a refreshing and visually appealing dish that can be served as an appetizer or a garnish. They are made by slicing cucumbers into thin, spiral shapes and can be seasoned with your favorite dressings or herbs. Perfect for summer gatherings or as a light side dish.
Ingredients
- Cucumbers 15 oz
- Garlic 3 cloves
- Rice Vinegar for Sushi 1 tablespoon
- Soy Sauce 3 spoons
- Sugar ½ spoons
- Sesame Oil 2 spoons
- Mild Chili Spice 1 piece
- Salt to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Prepare all the ingredients.
Step 2
Place the cucumber on the cutting board and lay the chopsticks alongside it.
Step 3
Make thin cuts in the cucumber, stopping before reaching the bottom to create sticks.
Step 4
Turn the cucumber cut-side down, also between the chopsticks. Score it while holding the knife at a slight diagonal.
Step 5
Cut all the cucumbers in the same way and transfer them to a deep serving dish.
Step 6
Dice the pepper into small cubes. If you prefer it spicier, you can leave the seeds in.
Step 7
In a bowl, mix rice vinegar, soy sauce, chili, sugar, and sesame oil until the sugar is dissolved.
Step 8
Press the garlic through a garlic press into the sauce. Taste and add salt if needed.
Step 9
Pour the cucumbers with the prepared sauce.
Step 10
Serve immediately or chill in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving.
