Description

Lemon juice can be replaced with citric acid (0.5 teaspoon).

Ingredients

  • Sweet Corn Sticks 2 pieces
  • Water 0 qt
  • Sugar 0 lbs
  • Vanilla salt 0 oz
  • Salt 1 teaspoon
  • Meyer Lemon Juice 1 teaspoon

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Cut two ears of corn into pieces of 2.5–3 cm. Pour in 1.5 liters of water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer for 1.5 hours until the liquid is reduced by about half.

Step 2

Remove the corn and set aside (you can eat it now). Strain the corn broth. Add sugar, vanilla sugar, salt, and lemon juice to the broth. Place on heat. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Step 3

Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and let the syrup cook until thickened (reduce to half). Remember to stir occasionally.

Step 4

Once the syrup has thickened, let it cool. Pour into a jar, seal, and store in the refrigerator.
