Potato pancakes are served with finely chopped herbs, sour cream, whipped cream mixed with garlic and salt, and also tomato sauce. Traditionally, people prepare a honey cold kvass and serve it alongside the potato pancakes.
Ingredients
- Potato 5 pieces
- Onion ½ pieces
- Chicken Egg 1 piece
- Wheat Flour 2 spoons
- Ground Black Pepper to taste
- Salt to taste
- Vegetable Oil to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
The potatoes should be peeled while raw, thoroughly washed, and grated on a fine grater. You can also use a blender or pass them through a meat grinder for chopping. Similarly, finely chop the onion and add it to the potatoes. To bind the potato-onion mixture, add a raw egg, as well as spices to taste (mainly black ground pepper and salt) and flour. The batter for the draniki should be kneaded thoroughly until smooth.
Step 2
The skillet with heated oil is already waiting for the potato pancakes, so from this moment, the frying process begins. The batter for the pancakes should be carefully placed onto the skillet with a tablespoon, forming little pancakes. The size of the pancakes depends on the cook's preference. They can be large, making it possible to roll them up with various fillings, transforming ordinary pancakes into a delicious stuffed treat. The pancakes can also be quite small, making them easy to serve on small plates, and they are sure to be a hit with little ones.
Step 3
Fry the potato pancakes over medium heat on both sides until a nice golden crust forms, then cover the skillet with a lid and let the pancakes cook for about three more minutes on low heat.
