Chicory with Béchamel Sauce
Ingredients
- Chicory 12 pieces
- Butter 0 oz
- Milk 15 fl oz
- Gruyère cheese 5 oz
- Safflower Oil 2 tablespoons
- Wheat Flour 2 tablespoons
- Salt to taste
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Remove the stems from the chicory and boil it in salted water. At the same time, bring an equal amount of salted water to a boil in another pot. Once the chicory is boiling, transfer it to the adjacent pot. Bring the water to a boil again and cook for about 20 minutes. Transfer the vegetables to a baking dish.
Step 2
Melt the butter in a saucepan along with the sunflower oil, stir in the flour, and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Then slowly pour in the milk, add salt, and cook for another 10 minutes. Pour the sauce over the chicory.
Step 3
Sprinkle with grated cheese and place in a preheated oven at 355°F. Bake for 10-15 minutes until the cheese melts and turns golden brown. Serve immediately in the same dish.
