Ingredients

  • Olive Oil 1 tablespoon
  • Onion 1 head
  • Lean Beef 25 oz
  • Celery stalk 2 pieces
  • Baking Tomatoes 15 oz
  • Passata Tomato Sauce 2 spoons
  • Sugar 1 tablespoon
  • Butter 0 oz
  • Herbes de Provence 1 tablespoon
  • Wheat Flour 3 spoons
  • Milk 25 fl oz
  • Ready-made dry lasagna sheets 15 oz
  • Cheshire Cheese 5 oz

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 355°F. Heat half of the olive oil in a large skillet and sauté the ground meat. Remove from the skillet. Add the remaining oil and sauté the finely chopped onion and celery until soft. Return the meat to the skillet and add the tomatoes, paste, herbs, and sugar. Bring to a boil, reduce the heat, and simmer covered for 20 minutes.

Step 2

Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly. Remove from heat and gradually whisk in the milk. Return to the heat, bring to a boil, and stir continuously until thickened. Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes.

Step 3

Grease a baking dish with butter. Layer one third of the meat sauce in the dish, then place a layer of lasagna sheets on top, followed by one third of the béchamel sauce. Repeat the layers twice more, and finish by sprinkling grated cheese on top.

Step 4

Bake in the oven for 25 minutes until golden brown.
