Carrots Vichy
Appetizers • French
Description
If possible, choose young and thin carrots for better flavor. To make this recipe successful, it is not necessary to use Vichy water or sparkling water. I use regular still bottled water. You can try cooking with different types of water. Some add parsley during cooking, while others add cumin just before serving. Thanks to this recipe, children love to eat carrots. It is important that the carrots caramelize at the end of cooking. They can be served hot or cold with meat or fish.
Ingredients
- Butter 0 oz
- Turnips 0 lbs
- Sugar 1 tablespoon
- Water 0 qt
- Salt a pinch
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1
Wash and peel the carrots.
Step 2
Slice them into thin rings.
Step 3
In a large pot, place the carrots, butter, sugar, salt, and pour in enough water to slightly cover the carrots, then heat over medium heat.
Step 4
Cover with a lid and monitor the process. After about 40 minutes, the water will evaporate.
Step 5
It is important that the carrots do not burn at all. The carrots should be melt-in-your-mouth tender.
Step 6
However, at the very end, you can leave the carrots on the heat for a few more minutes until they are slightly browned, stirring with a wooden spoon.
